Medals

Take the next step in your
Ballroom Dance journey.

Whether you’re a beginner or working towards a higher level, our team
will help you prepare, perform & feel confident on Medal day.

What Is Medal Day?

Medal Day is held twice a year at Ballroom Baby and gives students the chance to perform between one and five dances with their instructor in front of an examiner. You’ll receive feedback, a score and, if passed, a medal to recognise your achievement.

The celebration continues with our annual Gala Night, where students can dress up, enjoy the atmosphere and celebrate their hard work with the Ballroom Baby community.

A man and woman are dancing together indoors, the man is smiling and wearing a tuxedo with a white shirt, and the woman is wearing glasses, a black lace dress, and yellow shoes, with her hair tied back.

Choosing Your Dances

Ballroom Baby follows the Australian Dancing Society medal system, with different dance levels to work through as you progress. Beginners usually start with Proficiency or Crystal Level, before moving into Bronze and beyond.

Your dances can be prepared through group classes, private lessons, or a mix of both. If you’re learning in class, we recommend booking some private lessons to refine your routines before the day.

What To Wear

Medal Day is a special event, so students are encouraged to dress up. Think wedding-style attire, such as a dress, slacks, shirt, blouse, tie or bowtie, along with proper dance shoes.

For higher medal levels, students may also consider hiring or purchasing ballroom or latin competition wear. Use our style guide to help plan what to wear.
